Qasr Al Watan

Qasr Al Watan (“Palace of the Nation”) is the presidential palace of the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi and one of the country’s most prominent cultural landmarks. Opened to the public in 2019, it combines active governmental functions with exhibitions that showcase Emirati governance, heritage, knowledge, and craftsmanship.

Visitors can access several exhibition areas that explain the UAE’s political system, diplomatic traditions, and intellectual heritage. Key spaces include the House of Knowledge, which displays historic manuscripts and cultural artifacts, and the Spirit of Collaboration, a chamber used for major governmental and international meetings. The palace library contains more than 50,000 books documenting the region’s cultural, social, and political history.

Visiting Experience

The palace grounds include landscaped gardens, ceremonial courtyards, and evening attractions such as the Palace in Motion projection show, which uses light and sound to tell the story of the UAE. Most visitors spend between 1.5 and 3 hours exploring the complex, with many choosing to stay through sunset for the illumination of the palace exterior.
